Google is reportedly delivering more direct answers in search results, with 10% of mobile SERPs now featuring a direct answer box. This information comes from RankRanger’s latest report on mobile SERP features in the US.
According to new data from RankRanger’s social media update, there’s a noticeable decrease in Featured Snippets on mobile, accompanied by an increase in Direct Answers. This change signifies a 1.4% growth in direct answers compared to the previous month, marking one of the largest month-over-month increases among search features at the top of the page.
The report’s data is significant because it indicates Google’s intensified efforts to provide more immediate answers to users’ queries. While this can be advantageous for searchers by giving them quick answers, it may negatively impact publishers. If users obtain the information they need right from the SERPs, there might be less motivation to visit other pages.
Whether this trend will continue is uncertain, and further reports will reveal if this pattern persists. Other key insights from the report include:
– 23.06% of page one SERPs include at least one AMP result.
– 3.93% of all organic results are AMP on SERPs with at least one AMP.
– Ads appear on 30.89% of page one SERPs.
– Rich Cards appear on 20.89% of SERPs, showing a 5.64% increase from last month.
– 45.75% of SERPs include sidelinks, which is a 13.61% rise from the previous month.
